To maximize occupant safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Dodge Charger have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Toyota Supra doesn’t offer pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Dodge Charger Four-Door are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Toyota Supra doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Charger has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Supra doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Charger offers an optional 360° Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Supra only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The Charger has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Supra’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Charger has standard Rear Cross Path Detection, helping the driver avoid collisions. Toyota charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the Supra.

Both the Charger and the Supra have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and driver alert monitors.

The Dodge Charger weighs 1405 to 2439 pounds more than the Toyota Supra. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

There are almost 2 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Toyota dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are better in initial quality than Toyota vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge above average in initial quality. With 20 more problems per 100 vehicles, Toyota is rated below average.

The Charger R/T’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder produces 38 more horsepower (420 vs. 382) and 100 lbs.-ft. more torque (468 vs. 368) than the Supra’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The Charger Scat Pack’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder produces 168 more horsepower (550 vs. 382) and 163 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 368) than the Supra’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The Charger Daytona Scat Pack’s standard electric motors produces 288 more horsepower (670 vs. 382) and 259 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 368) than the Supra’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder.

Motor Trend magazine performs a classic 0 to 100 MPH and back to 0 MPH performance test. The Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack Two-Door completed this feat in only 11.8 seconds. It took the Toyota Supra 3.0 Premium 14.2 seconds.

On the EPA test cycle the Charger running on electricity gets better mileage than the Supra:

The Charger can travel with zero emissions for 223 to 267 miles (dependent on model). The Supra can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The Charger Six Pack has 3.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Supra (17.5 vs. 13.7 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Charger has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Supra doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

All wheel drive, available in the Charger, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Toyota Supra is not available with all wheel drive.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Charger has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 19-inch wheels are available on the Supra.

The Charger has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Supra doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Charger’s wheelbase is 23.8 inches longer than on the Supra (121 inches vs. 97.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Charger is 5.3 inches wider in the front and 5.9 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Supra.

The front grille of the Charger uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Supra doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Charger has standard seating for 5 passengers; the Supra can only carry 2.

The Charger’s optional easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Supra doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Charger’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Supra does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Charger’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children in the rear seat from operating them, but the driver can still raise and lower all of them with the lock engaged. Toyota does not offer a locking feature on the Supra’s standard power windows.

The Charger’s standard Keyless Enter-N-Go allow you to unlock the doors from either front door handle, open the trunk, and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Smart Key System standard on the Supra doesn’t offer a sensor on the trunk.
